Key House and Senate Committees Pass Reform Bills
With the constant urging of citizens and the President, both houses of the Congress are making significant progress on health care reform.
On July 15 the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) committee finished its markup of their health care reform bill and voted to pass it.
Later that week, three committees of the House of Representatives completed their markup of HR 3200, the America's Affordable Health Choices Act. A final vote on the floor of the House is expected to be held on July 28th.

The longer it takes Congress to pass real health care reform, the more Pennsylvania families go without insurance or buckle under the weight of rising health care costs.
Every day, 14,000 Americans lose their health insurance. In 2007, an American family filed for bankruptcy because of an injury or an illness every 90 seconds.
The America's Affordable Health Choices Act give us the kind of real reform we need. It will guarantee everyone has quality, affordable health insurance and give people the choice between private plans and a strong, public health insurance option. Additional reforms in the insurance industry will also help to lower health care costs for working families.
